Chocolate Haters Unite!

...Just for the record, I wouldn't be one of the uniters. I mean, yeah, in general I dislike chocolate. But it's okay in very small amounts. Or covered in peanut butter and/or caramel.

The first meeting of the anime club was yesterday.
It went well... All things considering. XD
Wee~ell, half the people didn't show up.
And a lot of them were because of miscommunication. xD
So the only people at this first meeting (where we decide on what we do/when to hold meetings!) the only people that came were me and Plushie (duh, we're the co-presidents/head peoples), and then Fetus and Melissa.
But like I said, it went very well! They all seemed to like the idea of the anime con coming up this June. ;D
Then Plush's mum dropped Fetus and I off at the corner gas station (he lives a few miles back, and I just wanted to walk because it was a niiice day), and he said he'd walk me home (even though I told him that it was not necessary... Why do guys always insist on walking me home?), but I enjoyed talking to him. :DD

And then Shae might be coming to youth group with me tonight~.
Hm, I think that's about it.

Wrap Your Name in Lace and Leather.

Last week (Tuesday?) Plushie and I went on a walk. I was bored, looking at some amazing pictures on Flickr, and decided that I wanted to have a 'photo shoot'. So I took my camera and my dog and met P-chan in the park. It was so much fun. I took a bunch of pictures of him doing strange stuff on the cannons, and at the elementary school's playground, too (that's actually where I took my blog's header).
Then yesterday we went out, too, but my camera's battery was dead, so the only pictures I took were on my Holga. (sigh) But it was a lot of fun, too! We went to the big hill, crunched pinecones ("nature's bubble wrap"), then hung out at the playground again. =D Okay, maybe not so much "hanging out" as "playing." Which is even better!!! (Then we sat on my porch and talked for three hours. XD)

Tuesday (?) pictures:

Waiting.

Because I'm just a rebel that way.

It looks so cool... But it was really a "I'mma screw up your picture!!!" sort of thing.

*dials phone* *listens for a few minutes, then hangs up angrily* "Well, that's rude!" "What?" "A lady was talking to me, saying something about inserting thirty-five cents, then just hung up on me!!!"

Sloth.

This is one of the cannons, btw.

"I don't think I can fit under here... Hey, I did it!" Later: "Crap, I don't think I can get out."

He stayed in this position for, what, thirty seconds?

I, however, fell down just as soon as I got up.

I used to play on this thing when I was in Kindergarten. (sighs)

Just... Sitting there.

"Courtney, I can't get down!"

The actual playground part of the school. The new one.

We just kinda... Tied her there. Then ran off to play. >.>;

That wavy thing is so cool.

Not this wavy thing, though. I don't get this one.

I do not understand.

XDD He fell.

Plushie.

Me.

And, of course, that awesome picture Plushie took of me.

Heheheh. Stupid elementary students.
I need to remember to take some white paint out there. I want to change 'Crips' to 'Chips'.

Reading Quirks

I just read this very interesting post by Megan Reid (guest blogger on Justine Labalestier's blog).

It got me thinking of reading quirks.
Megan Reid listed her quirks as:
  1. "When I get really into books I tend to forget to breathe, and then make embarrassing dying goldfish-ish gasping noises every few minutes.
  2. In my head, every protagonist has brown or red hair. I don’t know why, but they do. And it’s probably problematic, but that is a story for another post.
  3. I don’t read last pages first."

I spent some time in the comments, and people really do have some interesting quirks! There's reading any time, any where, talking to the book, reading while laying down, complete silence, reading the last 100 pages or so (the "final stretch") all at once... So many quirks! And they're all so interesting! If you have the time, I recommend you stop by the post comments.

What about me?
Let's see...
  1. I tend to read each page number when I turn to that page. I have no idea why, don't ask me. I've been doing it since I was ten. (^^;)
  2. I say each word in my head as I read. I didn't even realize that this is why I'm such a slow reader until I read a comment on Megan's post, where somebody said they did this. I know no other way of reading! Honestly, I didn't even realize people read without reading every word.
  3. I never read the last page. Apparently I'm in the minority? I never realized that, either. >.>; I used to read the very last word, when I was a lot younger, but I've learned that it isn't always the best idea. (laugh)
  4. I read at least a little bit every night. Even if it's only a few words, I have to read before bed!
  5. This probably isn't a quirk, but I love to curl up when I read. Reading at school is uncomfortable (even though I continue to do it) because of the desks. (I do, however, sit backwards on the bus in the afternoon and curl up that way.)

So what about the rest of you, my dear readers? What reading quirks do you have?*

*Hint, hint. Post a comment. Maybe a discussion will start up!

Meraki.

I saw Alice in Wonderland yesterday!
Jaja, das war gut.
Apparently Kaity B was there. She told Andrea-A that she saw me, but she never told me personally. :/
Before Plushie and I went to the movie theatre, we stopped at the Dollar Store to get caaaandies (gosh, that was such a good idea! Candy is so cheap there!), and the first thing we saw (well, he saw) when we walked in was... Naruto paddle balls.
HECK YEAH.
I picked one up for Chelsie. ;)
And she still wants to do Naruto cosplay for Halloween! :DD I think we should start working on our costumes this summer. That will be fun!

During fifth hour (last hour) Mrs. S was trying to explain to us the concept of quadratic equations (man, you should have seen my journal entry for that day! We were supposed to put all we know about quadratic equations, and I wrote an entire page that can pretty much be summed up in two words: "I have no idea.")... I lost where I was. Anyway, she was trying to teach, and at the same time we all heard someone singing softly... It wasn't from our class. She went out to see if anyone in the hallway was doing it, but no one... Then it eventually faded away... Half an hour later it started up again, and Mrs. S stopped right in the middle of what she was saying to Jon and just listened. XD It was weird. We came to the conclusion that our room has a ghost. :]

I love this. It's just so expensive!

I'm thinking about changing the name of my blog... Be on the lookout for that.

Soon We'll Be Living in the Future

I have to stoooop wanting to change my blog's layout. DX It's like this, and it is here to stay! (For a few more weeks, anyway...)
Plushie-chan (ooh, I should start calling him that!) invited me to go see Alice in Wonderland with him today! But... I don't know if I can. v.v I've been planning to see the 3 o'clock showing of our school play, Grease, and I have a friend in it and I really want to see it. So maybe they'll be going to see Alice a little later.... Or else I'll probably just end up seeing it with my mother or Angel. ;)

I'm living next door to a lake again.
No, srsly. April showers came a liiiitle early this year, and now my neighbour's side yard is flooded again. Like it does every year. I just hope it won't freeze over like it usually does! (That means snow. D:<)
After Jason dropped me off at home yesterday, I immediently took off my sandals and knee-socks and ran outside to get the mail. (I took a few detours through the mud.) Then I came inside and changed into Bermuda shorts and a t-shirt and opened up my window. :3 Angel thinks I'm crazy for thinking this weather is warm, but it is! Fifty degrees Fahrenheit is freaking WARM! Anyone else agree? Let me hear the 'aye's!

Okay. I mentioned this before, but now it's actually happening, so I'll go all-out here! (Uh-oh.)
SCHOOL. ANIME. CLUB.
Heck yush. >:3
I think I got the idea when I thought about the club Nellie's school has, then something Emily said really inspired me to talk to other people about it. I mentioned it to Plush, and he was all for it! So we began planning together, researching, trying to figure out how to make it work. We had everything planned, and the only two things left for us to do was to find a teacher that would supervise us, and talk to the school principal.
We killed two birds with one stone. >w< (In a way.)
We decided to talk to the art teacher first, Mr. R, because he'd be likely to want to help us. Guess what? He was all for it!!! So we met with him the next day, yesterday, to discuss what we wanted to do and everything. He told us that he talked to the principal, and there's not even any strict club etiquette we have to follow! Pretty much, we just need to have a teacher to supervise (which we have!). And Mr. R even gave us some good ideas! (We're going to watch anime, from the old stuff to the very new stuff. Y'know, to see how anime evolved over the decades? It was sort of both Plush and Mr. R's idea, I think. We're going to start off watching an anime Mr. R has from when he was a kid, back in the '70s.)
Now we just have to get members together (which we're working on), choose a date for the first meeting, and plan out the first meeting. YESSSS.
It's actually happening!!!
I hope that it works out... Maybe we can all attend that local anime con together this summer! ^w^

Thursday 11 March 2010

I know I keep saying this, but... Today was suuuch a good day!
SRSLY. Even better than the usual 'wonderful.' ^_^

I was just mindin' my own business, headed to my German class, when Fetus appeared out of no where, walking towards me, put his arm around me, then dragged me to the wall, then said "Hello" and walked off. I still do not understand...

Then... I walked in for Physical Science, and the first thing I saw was Mrs. C standing in the back corner, next to this huge movie theatre-style popcorn machine, making popcorn... What?! Then we watched Land of the Lost, because the Juniors had to take the ACTs all this week, and she's a niiiice teacher. On my way out I grabbed a bag for Plushie, since I ate most of his popcorn last Sunday... >.>;;

I stayed late after school with Plush... Eh, he was supposed to come over, but we met after school and it was kind of like... This: "Do you have a note?" "What?" "Are you riding my bus?" "You never told me that." "Well, that's what we always do!" "Well..." "I'm confused now!!!" So Donald grabbed a back of popcorn Mrs. C was handing out at the corner, said good-bye to his girlfriend, allowed Genaro to take half of his popcorn, and we left. We searched for Jason so he could give us a ride home, but we couldn't find him so we walked around the back of the school and found the art teacher. Guess what? We're starting an anime club at school!!!
We ended up calling his mother to pick us up, who called his grandmother... Who took us to his house. His mother had salespeople over. (laugh) We walked to my house and played the Sims 3 for three hours. XD (SO TIME CONSUMING.)

It's raining... And now I'm really sad that my computer isn't next to the window anymore. :(

To tie together a nearly-perfect day (testing was the only thing keeping it from reaching perfection), I am now talking to my best-friend-from-elementary-school for the first time since last summer! =D YUSSSH.

Sometimes We Need to Just Stop and Breathe.

We had the day off yesterday, so Angel and I hung out.

We like hanging out on the railroad tracks.

I can get some good pictures that way. ;)

And sometimes... We feel dangerous. XD

We wanted to go to the store. So instead of the 3-minute walk on the road from my house, we took the tracks.

You see, 'taking the tracks' involves a long, 20-minute trek through a big, snowy corn field.

But sometimes I can get good shots this way, too.

Good memories. ^^

~*~

I took pictures for four consecutive mornings last week.

These two pictures are both from the first morning.

The second morning.

Sometimes the sky leaves me breathless.

This one was taken from a little closer to the school than the others. I don't know why I didn't use the tree before.

Have a good night, everyone.

Courtney
