Writing Workshop!

Photobucket

Whoo-hoo! Yesterday I went to this awesome writers' workshop thing. It was such a great experience!

After I stopped at the schools store and bought strawberry Sour Punch Straws (I wanted one of those huge Laffy Taffy, but I didn't see any, so I didn't ask), it was nearly 7:30, so I went directly to the bench in front of the office to wait to leave for the workshop. I was kind of surprised to see some of the people there, namely Fetus. I chatted briefly with Shannon, and gave Fetus a horrible high-five. Finally, we boarded the bus.
I will do my best to spare you the boring details. I sat near the front, and Rachel sat next to me. Who doesn't love Rachel?! We talked for a few minutes... She writes poems, and I told her that I write stories of fiction. She mentioned Teen Ink, which I looked up when I got home (I did know what it was before!), and ordered the one free issue they give out. :D

Anyway, about the actual workshop.
The speaker was great. When he first came up, he said, "High-schoolers, this is great! Yesterday I had middle-schoolers. Check it out." He hid his mouth with his hand, as if we was whispering a secret into the mic. "Ass."
But seriously, he was GOOD! And so inspiring! During lunch (pizza and soda... yum yum) I wrote a really good passage in my story.

The speaker also talked about how writers tend to notice things people don't, and are very insightful, which will make us miserable. "Welcome to your life!" he declared. "You will never be happy!"
So I must be a born writer! I'm always noticing things, like in movies I'll see a familiar poster, but when I mention it to a friend, they're like, "Seriously? I wouldn't know. I don't notice things like that!"
(Plus, all these constant observations DO make me miserable! :D)

Roxas 3 Pictures, Images and Photos Photobucket

When we first arrived at the workship-thing, we had donuts! Oh-so good. ^__^ Mine was chocolate with chocolate frosting. I don't usually like cocoa much (ironic, seeing as my nickname is Coco!), but this was good! I sat in the back, by myself, and read Inkheart. Fetus came back and sat by me (apparently he was just going all around the room). Talked about Inkheart for a bit, he brought up an interesting point: it's just stupid to make a movie out of a book that is about how great books are!
Heheh. Fetus is awesome.
He was pretty much the only person who talked to me (I didn't mind, I don't like to talk to many people). I love how he easily becomes friends with people he hardly knows. I know that I don't just start shoving a girl I barely know, just ride the bus with! (Yeah, that happened. It was funny. ^^)

DANGITWHYDOIALWAYSPOSTSUCHGREATWALLSOFTEXT?!

To break is up, I will post a photo of my desk:

My desk

The slideshow is so you don't miss out on my lovely avatar while my Wall of Icons is MIA.
Hmm... I'm thinking of the bus ride home yesterday.
...My toothpaste exploded. =__=

Yes, I do keep toothpaste in my backpack. Or, rather, I did. The other day Heather told me that I am the most prepared girl she's ever met. She said that when Angel asked if anyone had lotion in their lockers, and I pulled a tube out of my backpack right there. (It ended up giving her a rash... Oops.)

So, anyway, I was looking through my backpack for... Something... I forgot what. But after I pulled out a few folders I noticed that there was... Something white and orange at the bottom of my bag... I was like, 'Oh, crap.' I had to shove all of my folders and books into a smaller pocket in the bag. That already had a broken zipper. But anyhow!

I asked Damien and/or Donald for a napkin... Damien offered paper (xD I have a ton of that!), but Donald did have a little package of tissue. When he gave me them, he said, "Yeah, my mom gave them to me, she was like, 'Here, Donald, in case you ever spill toothpaste in your backpack.'" (Erm... Maybe you had to be there. It was a lot funnier then, rather than reading it.) But that statement seemed to confuse Damien... XD A few minutes later he saw all of the toothpaste-covered crap in my seat and was like, "Wait, YOU spilled the toothpaste?!" He thought that when Donald made that comment about his mum, he was being serious. Freaking funny. XD

Oh, wow. My mum melted the remote!!! We have a little TV in the kitchen, and we usually keep the remote on top of a candle by the stove... Eh, well, my mother probably should have taken her absentmindedness into consideration when she lit that candle, because now the remote is horrible disfigured (but still works, by some miracle!).

Man, the spell check on Firefox SUCKS! Seriously. I spell 'miracle' as 'miricle' (because I can never get that word right!), and the options are things like Mirilla, aurical, but not miracle! Well, it's there now that I have spelled it correctly, but geez...

Whoa. I don't have an anime album on Photobucket! Sheesh, I need to change that!

Pandora.com is awesome. I used to listen to it a few years ago (when I was into Aly & AJ, Hilary Duff, that pop-crap xD)... But the other day I brought it back up. I missed you, Pandora Radio!

I'm gonna go watch When They Cry for the first time.

Oyasuminasai!

Listening to: It's Not My Time (3 Doors Down)
Reading: Inkheart
Watching: Parks and Recreation
Drinking: Green Kool-Aid! (I think it's lime)

I'm probably going to be on haitus for awhile, but I managed to get on now, so I'll post. :)
There really isn't much to talk about. We had an interesting discussion about love in English, I'm going to help with spring cleaning at church tomorrow, and I'm listening to Pandora Radio right now.

I slipped in the grass when I got off the bus. I was trying to run around the trees so I could pick some Daffodils, but... I slipped. >_> At least my skirt isn't grass stained!

Lunch was great yesterday. xD I stayed for both B and C lunch* (okay, half of B and all of C). I did miss the food Kaity brought from her foods class (Holleigh kept going on about how good it was... GAH), but Kenny gave me a chocolate bar, and I was able to spend lunch with my BFFs (bffs being Nudge and Angel... But they're not my only best friends!)! And Stacey... Oh, man, Stacey. She had a package of mini donuts, and near the end of lunch she just started rubbing it on Katy's arm affectionately... In a way that made it look SO wrong (kind of like the time she kept rubbing her leg on ours randomly under the table... O_o). When Katy asked what the HECK she was doing, Stacey replied, "I'm rubbing my 'nuts on you."
...Yeah, well, you can probably imagine the kind of conversation THAT started.

Oh, sorry about the mega-long post below. u///u
OMG! We have ice cream! I totally forgot!

Courtney

*At my school, we have three lunches: A, B, and C. Each are about ten minutes apart from each other, and what teacher you have third hour (which is the lunch hour) depends on what lunch you have. If you have A lunch, you go directly to the cafeteria, and when lunch is over you go to third hour. If you have B, you go to class, go to lunch, then go back to class (I have B right now). If you have C, you have to sit through an entire class hour THEN go to lunch.

It just never gets old. XD

Graceling by Kristin Cashore

Graceling by Kristin Cashore

Katsa has been able to kill a man with her bare hands since she was eight—she’s a Graceling, one of the rare people in her land born with an extreme skill. As niece of the king, she should be able to live a life of privilege, but Graced as she is with killing, she is forced to work as the king’s thug.

She never expects to fall in love with beautiful Prince Po.

She never expects to learn the truth behind her Grace—or the terrible secret that lies hidden far away . . . a secret that could destroy all seven kingdoms with words alone.

This book… Is amazing.

Two weeks ago my friend (Emily) lent it to me, said that it seemed like a book I would like. She was dead on!

I’m not going to go very far into what it’s about, exactly. You can read that right up there. (Points.) ^ See? Up there ^ But this is my review of the book.

My favourite part were the characters. Give me a book with basically no plot, but as long as the characters are interesting, I will keep it dear to me! (Like the movie, Keith. Awesome movie. Not really a plot, but Keith is fascinating!)

ARGH PEOPLE KEEP TALKING AND I CAN’T WRITE!

Heehooheehooheehoo… Give me a moment.

Okay. The characters.

Po is my favourite, by far. He’s cocky, playful, strong, and very lovable. (laugh) I don’t know why all these girls want their own Edward Cullen… I’ll be waiting for my Prince Po! xD

But the characters were so believable. Sometimes I have a hard time believing that they’re not real. (;_;) (I found myself relating with Katsa -the protagonist-… A lot!)

Other than the characters, the books itself was quite exciting. Seriously, I had trouble putting it down… And keeping it down! (I don’t think my Algebra teacher was very happy with me…_)

The end of the book was so sad. (sniff)

*cough* Erm… The funniest part of the book! Whenever I think about it, I can’t help but smile (I kept laughing and laughing when I first read it). It was when Po and Katsa were riding their horses (to somewhere) and Katsa screamed his name… I will say no more than that. You just have to read the book to get it, really. (It was so funny!)

I could feel the emotions that I’m sure the characters were feeling. The delight when Katsa fought Po. The horror when she figured out someone’s secret… And the dread and anxiety when Katsa figured that there was something wrong with a certain prince (near the end).

I finished Graceling last night, and I was so sad when it ended. See, this is why I hate reading! They always end. >_< But as endings go, that was a pretty darn good one. Very emotional. Many emotions.

I convinced Holleigh to read it, so yay. ^^ Now, you! Go forth! Read!

(Oh! I just read on Kristen Cashore’s blog that the prequel (Fire) will be coming out this October… But better than that, the third book, Bitterblue (taking place a few years after Graceling) will have appearances of my favourite characters… Katsa and Po! (silent happy-scream))

(Holy crap, I wrote a lot! My apologies!)

Concert

In answer to your questions, yes, I had a great time at the concert!

My mum took for-ev-er to get out of the house. And into the car. And, finally, out of the driveway. >_> I think if we stop at a gas station, it should at least be 7-11... They have good slushies. TT_TT
*cough*
When we got there, the lady at the entrance made me dump my mother's coffee (because, for some reason, I had been elected to carry it). She wasn't too happy about that. Then we found some seats, but they were way up in the nosebleeds (which, I found out, has nothing to do with hentai xD), but that made my mum dizzy (not to mention me), so she left us to find a lower seat (even though the good seats were all taken). After a few minutes, Kaity and I (did I mention that I went with Kaity?) went down to find lower seats, too (I don't like heights...), but we couldn't find any! We ended back up in the nosebleeds anyway, but somehow on the other side of the... Whatever that huge room is called (I'm at a loss for words right now).

Later, after Hawk Nelson, we went down to get Pepsi. When we were about to get in line, I heard "I love your shirt!" I was just like, "Eh? Wha- who?" So the guy called it out again, looking directly at me (and my GIR shirt of awesomeness). That made me happy (I replied with a "Thanks!" and a big Sora grin xD). He was kinda cute, with a faux-hawk. (Okay, okay, getting back to the subject!)

Umm... Not much happened after that. My mom called me and we met her in some better (lower!) seats. I did some jumping (umm... That's relevant because I'm not a jumper, a screamer (shuddup, you know what I mean!), or anything of that sort). Aaand that was about it.

I was going to talk about something else... But now my mother is yelling at us to go to bed, so I had better go. (sigh)

I was going to upload some pictures, but this computer hates me.

FF vs. IE

...Not to bring up that whole FF vs. IE thing again, but...
I just wanted you peoples who surf with Internet Explorer to do this...
Look at my blog with Firefox!
Just once!

Because I just looked at it with IE, and... >_> Half the sidebar was gone. The cbox! The icons! GONE! :O
So anyway, you see that little image over there <--- ? Click on it. Make it big! That's how the precious sidebar is supposed to look!

In other news, I'm going to a concert with my bff Kaity tomorrow! I forgot what the tour is called, but the bands that are playing are Hawk Nelson (Kaity's absolute favourite!), Jeremy Camp, and MercyMe. I might take a few videos, I dunno, we'll see. :D

Oh! I'm going to watch the FFVII: The Advent Children movie... I have it on D~V~D~! Actually, it's some library's, but I ordered it and it is now in MY posession! (cue evil laughter)

I think... If I had a computer in my room, I would never leave it. I mean, I keep food in there as it is, I have an entire freaking library in there, not to mention an old TV and DVD player. Heheh. That would be awesome.

Happy Easter!

My brother and dad didn't go to church this morning, but my mom and I did. She gave me the option of going or not, and I really felt like I should. And I'm glad that I did! The sermon was interesting, not the best I've heard, but not bad, but while I listened I took notes... And drew. That's how I pay attention! And it usually makes it more interesting for me. I was really happy because lately I haven't been able to draw too much, and in church I drew a pretty good picture of Timothy. ^^ And I think I have bypassed my writers block!!! I feel soooo good about it.

Yesterday I was thinking... I remembered a quote from somewhere... But I just couldn't place where... Don't you hate that? So I asked my brother about it, because I could have sworn that I saw it in a movie with him... But he didn't know... Then! Today I Googled it and realized... I'm so stupid. I saw it last week, with Emily!

Elizabeth Swann: There will come a time when you have a chance to do the right thing.
Jack Sparrow: I love those moments. I like to wave at them as they pass by.

I love that quote!
I think I'll watch the third movie today. I need to give it back to Emily tomorrow. (u_u)

...I was just thinking... On an episode of House, MD, the lead singer of All American Rejects was on it (just in the beginning), and he said, "My fans were all born in the '90s." So... Either he wants old people to listen to his music, or... He wants nine-year-olds to. O_o

I want gummy bears!!!
I think I'll have to go up to the store to buy some. >_>
Oh! I totally forgot about that cat boy maid I was drawing! Need to finish that... I hate folds.
Yeah, I'd better go do that. And my homework. Blech.

Antic Cafe

Tonight will either be a game night or an anime night.
If I can get the stupid rented Kingdom Hears disk to work, then it will be a game night.
If I fail, I will watch Loveless until 2:00 AM.
This is the last night I get to stay up as late as I want to before spring break ends!!!
I'm so sad. :(

...Looks like it's an anime night.
=( =( =(
I was really excited about KH. It's so annoying, though! I don't care about your strange thoughts, Sora, just stop freezing in front of Kairi and let me play!!!

An Cafe xD

...In other news, I went to a garage sale with Nudge and Angel on Friday.
It sucked.
They didn't even have old Disney movies!
Then we went to another one that sucked even more.
But we dropped Nudge and her mum off (they had some horse test to do...) and we (Angel, me, and our mothers) went to the mall. Now that was fun!

We spent some time in the bookstore (I read half of Bogus to Bubbly xD), then Deb where I tried on a beautiful purple dress (which you can see here)... Everyone said that I looked really good in it. I don't know about that, I but I liked it. I don't think I would wear it to prom of anything, though. THIS is more my style (you're so lucky, Lizzy!). Corsets = love. Angel wanted to buy this for the next formal dance. Her mum wouldn't let her. (laugh)

After Deb we stopped at Hot Topic (didn't buy anything, I only had $15!), then Angel said that she was hungry, so we waited in line at Subway for ten minutes at the food court. >_> She was a little unhappy about the fact that it cost over $6 for a 6 inch sub, two cookies, and a coke, so she gave me a straw and said "Here, you will use this straw and pretend to drink my pop, so I will feel better." Not totally sure how pretending to drink something makes it worth the price, but okaaay... xDDD And, of course, we went to the photo booth and took funny pictures. It's a tradition with Angel.

Stupid Mabinogi being stupid and stupidly freezing up and closing out. >_<

Mmm... I'm just gonna watch House.

Mabinogi

Okay, this post is going to be all Mabinogi. So beware.
I finally found some awesome clothes for Kino today. And in Tir Chonaill, of all places! (see above)

The gloves were actually dropped from a raccoon, but they go with the outfit so perfectly! Right after I purchased the outfit, they changed colours in the store... This one was greener. >_> So yay! :D Haha.
The boots came from... Emain Macha, I think.

I'm considering buying a pet. There's no way that I'll complete G3 in the next few days, so relying on that event is out. The horse events has been done for awhile... So really, if I want a pet I'll have to buy one. >_> Anywhere from $2 to $9. I probably won't end up doing it. I have to save up to get the cartilage of my ear pierced, anyway.

I need an in-game friend. I did make one a few days ago, but we haven't talked since.
Mabinogi keeps logging me out unexpectantly. How annoying.

I would probably get the mini bear (pet).

Looking for Angels

Going through this life looking for angels
People passing by looking for angels

Walk this world alone try to stay on my feet

Sometimes crawl, fall, but I stand up cause I'm afraid to sleep
And open my eyes to a new day, with all new problems, and all new pain
All the faces are filled with so much anger
Losing our dignity and hope from fear of danger
After all the wars, after settling the scores, at the break of dawn we will be deaf to the answers

There's so much bigotry, misunderstanding and fear
With eyes squinted and fists clinched we reach out for what is dear
We want it we want
We want a reason to live
We're on a pilgrimage
A crusade for hope
Cause in our hearts and minds and souls we know
We need it we need
We need more than this

[Chorus:]
Going through this life looking for angels
People passing by looking for angels

Walking down the streets looking for angels
Everyone I meet looking for angels

So many nations with so many hungry people
So many homeless scrounging around for dirty needles
On the rise, teen suicide, when we will realize
we've been desensitized by the lies of the world
We're oppressed and impressed by the greedy
Whose hands squeeze the life out of the needy
When will we learn that wars, threats, and regrets are the cause and effect of living in fear

Who can help protect the innocence of our children
Stolen on the internet with images they can't forget
We want it we want
We want a reason to live
We represent a generation that wants to turn back a nation
To let love be our light and salvation
We need it we need
We need more than this

[Repeat Chorus]

I became a savior to some kids I'll never meet
Sent a check in the mail to buy them something to eat
What will you do to make a difference, to make a change?

What will you do to help someone along the way?
Just a touch, a smile as you turn the other cheek
Pray for your enemies, humble yourself, love's staring back at me
In the midst of the most painful faces
Angels show up in the strangest of places

[Chorus x3]

This song speaks to me on so many levels.I know you'll be tempted to just skip over the video and lyrics, but I really wish that everyone would listen to the song and read the lyrics ('cuz it's kind of hard to hear what he's saying).

In other news, Angel came over last night (as I mentioned). At 10:30 she decided that she wanted brownies... And of course, we didn't have any mix, so we had to make them from scratch. >_> Took over an hour. During that time we talked about everything from how America really isn't a democracy to how weird it would be to date a flabby guy. (xD)
When the brownies came out, they were really gooey ("I've always wanted brownie soup!"), so Angel put them back in the turned-off oven. We didn't have any last night, but we did this morning. They're really hard and chewey. >_<

This afternoon we licked nine-volt batteries.
Then Angel wanted angel food cake.
Later, she watched TV while I played Mabinogi for a bit, then I drew while she read.

I drew these characters I created. I'm having a lot of fun with them! If you ask me, the most important part of a story is its characters.
There's Erica, whose parents want her to be perfect, and she can't stand to let them down.

There's Amica, Erica's fun-loving rebellious older sister who attends a local community college.

There's Andii, Erica's best friend. I'm not too sure on her personality yet, but every Friday she asks Erica to go out with her and some friends. Erica always declines.

There's Fox and Cyan, who are twins (boys). Fox plays basketball and has a crush on Andii. Cyan draws and... Not sure what else, yet. They both are pretty outgoing, not into partying but like to do stuff with their friends. (They're friends with Andii and Erica.)

And then, of course, there's Timothy. Silent. An outcast. He appears to think he's better than everyone else, or at least that's what his classmates say. Very few people have actually heard the sound of his voice.

Whoops. I'm sorry. It's just that I've had so much fun creating these characters, I had to get them out there! But the plot of the story will never be revealed! Drawings, however, will be. I'll probably upload a group picture later.

So now the question is: Read Tsubasa online, watch Loveless, or play Mabinogi? Or should I just take a shower or draw?
Gah.

My top 5 favourite anime
Kino no Tabi
Chobits
Elfen Lied
Ouran High School Host Club
Naruto (just the Chuunin and Konoha Invasion arcs. >_>)

My top 5 favourite manga
DNAngel
Monster
Chobits (everything is explained better in the manga)
Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE
Ouran High School Host Club

(Edit! I totally forgot about Monster! So I just kind of squeezed it in between DNA and Chobits and knocked off Naruto.)

I asked my friend
who took German how to pronounce "Elfen Lied," and she's pretty sure that it's "Ayl-fen laid."
Interesting.

Sorry for this pretty much pointless post. I think Angel might be coming over tonight. And I'm going to this large library tonight, and when I get home I'm watching the newest House episode... Today is a good day!
Now I'm going to my room to put on clothes and write and draw.
(I finally came up with names for my twin characters! Fox and Cyan. ^_^)

Saturday, 4 April 2009

Right now I'm waiting for a demo of a game by tooaya (on deviantART) to download. Her drawings are beautiful, I can't wait to see how her game style is!
Ooh, it finished! This had better work.
The boxes are in Japanese, I don't know what it means!!!
GAH.

Aaanyway... I'm going to the movies with my mother, brother, and cousin (who is more like a brother).
We're going to see Knowing.
And I'm going to buy Twizzlers.
Yum.

Anyway, when my friend Emily (mentioned in the previous post) comes over (no date set, we've just been talking about it), I'm going to help her set up a deviantART account. Yays! I really like her art. She gave me a cool drawing, and I'm tempted to upload it, but I won't. Her work is very inspiring to me. ^_^ So when she does get on dA, I'll post a link for anyone interested.

I played Mabinogi for the first time in a few months last night.
If anyone here plays Mabinogi, I'm Kino of Alexina and Esami of Tarlach!

Here's my beautiful Kino. xD

When she reaches level 30 and gets a thoroughbred, I'm naming him Hermes.
Get is? Kino and Hermes?
I'm sure no one will. xD

Twilight.

I spent the night with my friend Emily last night.
It was fun!
And we watched Twilight. So here is my review of the movie:

I didn't really like the opening scene... It seemed kind of off. Unnatural. But it quickly became better.
I kind of liked the mood of the movie. Nice and dark. But that 'buttcrack Santa' was not in the book. >_> That was annoying.
I wasn't expecting most of the characters to look like they did. Bella's friends at school, I mean. (Eric is Asian? When did this happen?)
I actually found myself enjoying this movie.
....Then Edward came in.
And I kept having Roswell flashbacks:

  • The movie opened with a girl talking about dying

  • A beautiful inhuman blonde girl was angry with her 'brother'
because he spilled their story to the girl he loves after he saved
    her life using his powers

I liked Jake. My friend told me that he was butt-ugly, but I actually think he looks kind of cute.

The meadow scene was so stupid! First of all, he didn't even go to a meadow to show off his sparkly skin... And when he did sparkle, it looked so fake!

Edward: This is the skin of a
monster.
Me: Oh, yeah? Prove it!
(Yeah, I shouted that when we were watching it.)

Jasper had to be my favourite character in the movie. Two words: Edward Scissorhands.

Is anyone else seeing it?

Okay, so here's my final opinion on the movie:
It wasn't half bad. Edward sucked (his running looked so fake!), but the rest was okay. I think if we cut him out, it would be much better.
My favourite part? The credits.
(No, seriously, the credits were awesome.)

(Bella: So he's after me now? Edward: No, he's after my candy bar!)

PS. Did anyone else see Stephanie Meyer in the coffee shop? Emily didn't even notice that!

My underwear is red.

Photobucket

My underwear is red,
Violet's aren't blue,
It's almost spring break
and I don't want to pick up poo!

People who don't use proper punctuation annoy the crap out of me!
As in, "Im going to get Sarahs water first."
GAH.
Yep, Grammar Nazi all the way!

My BFF Chelsie = Awesomeness!
XP
Kaity and Angel are awesome as well, but sometimes I need a friend who will make "ppthh" noises with her tongue without a second thought in the middle of a large crowd of people!
Yeah, we have fun with that. "Ppthh" "Ppthh" "Ppthh" "*pop!*" "*clickclick*" "*pop!*" "*pop!*"
Who would ever want to grow up? Life is so much more fun when you don't care about boys, clothes, and what people think about you!
And Disney movies. Life cannot be complete without Disney movies.

I WANT CUPCAKES. D<
Ooooh, strawberry cake mix... Sweetness!
OMIGOSH. At the end of English class, Courtney (not me! A diff one!) had a baggie of SMASHED STRAWBERRIES. :O Not mangled, DESTROYED! And she didn't even bother to take their tops off, so one couldn't drink it without also consuming green things!
-FAINT-

Man, right now I kind of really want a tablet. I never used to want one, but I think if I had a tablet, I might be able to do digital art more easily, and I really want to do digital art.
If I can find a cheap one, I'll buy it myself, rather than waiting for my b-day (which is in... Six months. blech.)

Dang. Do I always blog in such a disjointed way, going from topic to topic without any transitions? Does this bother anyone? 'Cuz it sure is bugging me...
